31 Days of Make Believe: Meet Suzanne, Day 6
In her blog, she writes about kids, sanity, health, life, frustration, relationships and "anything that seems to pop up in my head!"
*Now for the Make Believe Part*
What did you always want to be when you grew up as a kid? Why?
I wanted to be a veterinarian, because should I run across any unicorns, they might need me. I wanted to be a nurse, to save the prince's heart from breaking. I knew I should be a teacher, so the seven little dwarfs had someone to show them how to read. I always wanted a job that helped people and that I could come home from every night feeling good about myself.
What is your favorite fairy tale and why?
I love international fairy tales, I always loved to see what children all over the world had to imagine while they were in bed. Did they have fairies or were they called something else? Did they have a snow queen or was it a desert princess?
My favorite fairy tale is Baba Yaga, she's a witch within the Russian culture and she is frightening. She lives in a house that walks on large chicken legs and uses it's windows as eyes, the yard is littered with bones to keep out intruders. Though I hate to be frightened, I was always in awe of the Baba Yaga and her faithful servants the White Horseman, the Red Horseman and the Black Horseman.
It is the night of the big ball. The one you are destined to marry is among the crowd, so you've dressed your best. Describe your outfit.
Red, No feathers, not sequins, just, red and stunning. The dress would not be tacky, but eye catching within a crowd of pastels. Hair pulled up off the neck curled and placed deliberately around a red hair ribbon, subtle but pointed. Neck adorned with a black choker a teardrop garnet hanging from it. Red ballet slipper style shoes so dancing causes no discomfort and can be done within the early morning hours.
Your life has been selected to be featured in an upcoming fairy tale style movie. What is the title and premise?
Title "Silvermane"
Premise: The story would be about each of the gray hairs on my head, and which one was caused by which child. I have a group of them that seem to grow only in one spot, and I believe that is based on the children.
You need to be rescued. Where are you and what is going on around you? Describe the scene as your hero approaches.
I'm sitting here right now. Rescue me! I am stuck behind this desk surrounded by sharp items (staplers) and ivy (computer cords). My only defense is this small dagger (letter opener) and my companion is the boxed in bard (radio). I feel a cold breeze starting to rise (air conditioning) and the natives are getting restless (mechanics meeting in 5 minutes). My drink has the consistency of tar (have you had mechanics coffee?) and there is no end in sight (I think the clock stopped moving).
My hero would be brave though, not without a sense of humor, a constant smile would be necessary to survive the tasks ahead. A quick wit would be needed to get past the natives, their verbal barbs can be playful and sharp. A hero with the dexterity of a fox, able to weave around the ivy and avoid sharp objects. The intelligence to avoid the mesmerizing muses within the bard in a box and a warm cloak to wrap around me to avoid the chill of the breeze. A strong body to carry me beyond the tar and the "Nothing" (Yes, that was a NeverEnding Story reference!), back home to my six little fairies who await my return.
