*Now for the Make Believe Part*
What did you always want to be when you grew up as a kid? Why?
I always wanted to be a teacher. I have always loved children for the honesty and innocence. Children are naturally curious and everything is exciting and new to them. I am the kind of gal who likes to be in charge and on the move, too!
What is your favorite fairy tale and why?
I love Cinderella for so many reasons. She works hard, and she’s kind. She is beautiful and talented. And despite how unconventional she is, she marries the prince in the end!
It is the night of the big ball. The one you are destined to marry is among the crowd, so you’ve dressed your best. Describe your outfit.
I would be wearing a floor length, red sequined gown. It would have a sweetheart neckline with cap sleeves. My hair would be swept up with soft curls framing my face. (Of course this is a fairy tale. I actually have short hair right now!)
Your life has been selected to be featured in an upcoming fairy tale style movie. What is the title and premise?
It is called, “A Modern Day Fairy Tale”. A young princess named Princess Betty is living in the big city on her own for the first time in her life and having a great time. While at a friend’s house one summer night, she meets Prince Charming. It is truly love at first sight for her. Prince Charming remains unconvinced, though. For a year, Princess Betty and Prince Charming talk about saving the world one day and how they will change the kingdom in their own ways. Their friendship grows, and Princess Betty realizes that since she is in love with Prince Charming, she cannot continue to pursue this friendship; she wants more. Princess Betty explains to Prince Charming that princesses like to be acknowledged by princes, and more importantly, that she is interested in something more than a friendship. Princess Betty rescues Prince Charming from himself that day by showing him what a perfect match they are and how they can save the world together. Then they lived happily ever after in the suburbs.
You need to be rescued. Where are you and what is going on around you? Describe the scene as your hero approaches.
I am on an outdoor adventure; of course, in the forest. I have been busy climbing rocks and exploring the plants and animals in this cool, damp place. It is late in the day, and the sun is setting. Fog is slowly rising all around me. A beautiful red, orange, and purple sunset appears, and I stop for a moment to admire it. While taking in the magnificence of the scene, I hear panting and smell smoke. Suddenly a flame rushes past me, and a tree goes up in flames. I have happened upon a group of seven dragons who are all terribly hungry. I realize that my only hope is to slay the dragons, but all I have with me is my pink and white Swiss Army knife covered in diamonds. I bravely take on the group and slay the smallest dragon of the bunch. I know that I cannot possibly win this battle. But in the distance, as if emerging from the sunset, my prince has come to rescue me. He rides his tall, black steed. The horse’s soft, midnight mane gently flows in the breeze. It is effortless for Prince Charming to navigate the rough forest floor. As he approaches me and the fierce dragons, he draws his sword gallantly. However, night is drawing closer, the sky is darkening, and the stars are beginning to shine. It seems that the dragons are afraid of the dark and they scamper back to their cave. Prince Charming gently scoops me up onto his strong, beautiful horse and carries me off to his castle.
